The second trimester begins.

Hooray! Your morning sickness should be starting to subside, and miscarriage is less of a risk. The second trimester brings in relief and reality...  Yes, you're really having a baby!  Let the waiting game begin...

You should be seeing your doctor again. Research what tests will be done.

Meow! Who’s changing the cat box? Not you, I hope. Cat faeces and raw meat can contain toxoplasmosis , a disease that can cause birth defects. The risks are highest during the second and third trimester, but it’s a very wise idea to hand the chores off to somebody else as soon as you become pregnant.  If there's no one else, make sure to wash your hands after changing the cat litter box or handling raw meat.

What's Going On with Your Body?
If you haven’t quit smoking , make today the day. That’s right. Take that pack and break it in half. If not for you, then for your baby.

Keep your protein high (you need 60-80 grams of protein a day).

What's Going On with Your Baby?
The vocal cords are developing, and the voice box has formed.  Your baby's   Intestines are now coiled and contained inside the abdomen while the liver secretes bile and the pancreas secretes insulin.  Just as exciting, however, is that those little fingers and toes are no longer webbed and her nail beds have begun to develop.
