BLUE'S CLUES

BluesCluesParty2.jpg (26965 bytes)

If you're trying
to solve the mystery
of the next
big party, we've
got the clues!

Make each child look like Blue:
Before the guests arrive make Blue ears. Use a blue plastic headband and glue on light blue felt ears. Decorate them with blue dot labels found at office supply stores. Use the a Face Painting Kit to paint a blue nose on each guest. Add the tail from the Catch Blue's Tail game listed on Games page.

Food Ideas:
Blue loves lemonade! You can turn an ordinary lemonade into a Blue's Clues beverage by adding 1 pint of pureed blueberries.

Combos are pretzels that are either filled with cheese or peanut butter and resemble dog treats.

Make any type of sandwich you choose, but cut them to look like dog bones using a dog bone cookie cutter. You can find these cookie cutters at most supermarket or department stores.

Puppy Chow:
9 cups Crispix Cereal
1/4 cup butter
1 pkt (6oz.) chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup peanut butter
1  1/2 cup powdered sugar
Microwave chips, peanut butter and butter for 1 minute on high. Stir, microwave about 30 second more, until smooth. Add vanilla. Pour over cereal in a large bowl and stir. Pour into a large ziplock bag, add powdered sugar. Seal bag and shake (this is a good time to ask birthday child to help). Spread evenly on wax paper to cool. Since this treat resembles dog food it could be served in little doggy dishes.

THE CAKE:
Making a giant blue paw print birthday cake will top off a Blue's Clues party. Make (or purchase from a local cake shop) a round cake of any flavor, frosted blue. Add four cupcakes (also frosted blue) along the top and you have a giant paw print. Serve cake and ice cream in a blue dog dish, personalized with the child's name.

Trainer Says . . .:
This game is run like simon says, however with a canine twist. The host/hostess of the party commands the children to do various dog activities such as roll over, wag your tail, growl, bark, sit, beg, shake a paw, lie down, etc. If the "Trainer" doesn't start the sentence with "Trainer says . . ." the children should not follow the command. If they do they have to sit out the rest of the game.

Catch Blue's Tail:
(good outdoor game!) Use a blue tablecover and cut strips about 2 inches wide and 1 foot long. Knot one end. Have the children tuck the knot into their wasteband (back). Divide the guests into 2 groups and have them line up on opposite sides of the play area. GO! Whoever grabs the most tails wins.

Solving Blue's Clues:
An activity to lead them too lunch!
Read the following poem:
You'll find the first clue
in the place child's name goes
when he/she wants to watch
Blue's Clues shows
(put a fork with the blue paw
print on it near the TV)

The next clue you'll find
where girls and boys
love to play with
bubbles and bathtub toys
(put a cup with a blue paw print
on it in the bathtub)

You'll discover the last clue
if you open the door
where sometimes mummy
hears  child's name  snore
(put a paper plate with a blue
paw print on the birthday child's bed)

The clues (fork, cup & plate) will lead the children to have a hunch, that the next activity is lunch!
