Nappies

Dads can do nappy duty. The last time you were this nervous with your fingertips was when you unhooked your first bra in high school!  Men are conditioned to think they're inept with nappies, but we earned those stripes during the old days of safety pins, cloth, and pricked thumbs. No more. Disposables, with their fool-proof Velcro tabs, are easy.

Some tips:

• Never change a nappy after your baby has drifted off to dreamland following a good feeding. (If you do, your moment of quiet may be shattered by piercing screams.)
• Choose a tranquil time. Perhaps some play may prepare your infant.
• And no matter how gruesome the odour, don't holler insults into the air, cringe, or fan your face.
• Create a calm mood, get your baby's eye contact, exude confidence from your fingertips-and breathe through your mouth.
