The Division of Labour While parenting is a sport, the best parents don't keep score. Rather
than try to keep track of every household chore or baby-care duty and divvy them
up exactly fifty-fifty, talk to your wife about ways your roles can balance each
other out.
Whether your family follows more traditional roles or not, you and your
wife each bring different assets to parenting. Rather than duplicate your wife's
efforts, complement them. I take our kids to the pictures, parties, museums,
skiing, in-line skating, and almost everywhere else. My wife, on the other hand,
prefers to nurture, read, and play quietly with our children. Soon our kids
learned that Daddy meant swinging on a swing and Mummy meant baking. I pick the
strawberries with my kids. My wife and kids toss the berries into muffins. For
us, it's a great mix. Please Note: This mumsweb.com area is designed for educational purposes only.
